About
Who writes this site
One person, a published method, and a short list of things we deliberately do not claim.
Selena H.
Hyzer & Chain is written and run by Selena H., the hands-on owner behind the site. Every page here is hers: the research, the picks, the writing and the corrections. There is no content team, no freelancer pool and no AI-generated filler bulking out the archive.
That is a deliberate constraint rather than a boast. A one-author site can only publish what one person has genuinely worked through, which caps how fast it grows and raises how much of it she can actually stand behind.
What we do not claim
This matters more than a biography, so it is stated plainly:
- We do not test discs on a course. There is no test lab, no field-testing program and no measured throw data behind these recommendations. Any site that tells you a disc “performed beautifully in our testing” without publishing a method is telling you something it cannot support, and we would rather not join in.
- No professional credentials. Selena is not a touring professional, holds no PDGA rating we would present as a qualification, and has no sponsorship. She plays, she reads manufacturer specs carefully, and she writes.
- No reviews, ratings or testimonials. You will not find star ratings, customer quotes or review counts anywhere on this site, because we have not collected any and inventing them would be fraud.
What we do instead
Every flight number on this site — speed, glide, turn and fade for all 55 disc molds we cover — was read from the manufacturer’s own published product page and is linked to that page. The same is true of every specification for the 43 bags, carts, baskets and shoes covered here.
Picks are then assembled from three things: those published specs, current retailer availability, and documented community consensus about which molds suit which level. The full method, including what would make us change a pick, is on the methodology page.
Why skill level organizes everything here
Almost every disc golf buying guide sorts by product category: best drivers, best bags, best shoes. Very few sort by the thing that actually determines whether a disc will work for you, which is how far you throw. A disc that is perfect at 230 feet is wrong at 380, and the reverse is true too.
So the whole site is built around level instead. Every pick says who it suits in level terms, every roundup links to its counterpart one level up and one level down, and the homepage asks what level you play at before it shows you anything. That is the one thing Hyzer & Chain does that we have not found elsewhere.
Corrections
If something here is wrong — a flight number that does not match the manufacturer’s current page, a product that is no longer sold, a recommendation that does not hold up — please say so. Corrections are made promptly and the update date on the page changes when they are. Our editorial policy sets out how that works.

How the site is funded
Through affiliate commission. When you buy something through a link here we earn a percentage from the retailer, at no extra cost to you. There is no sponsored content and no paid placement, and no brand has any input into what appears on these pages. The full statement is on the affiliate disclosure page.
